Habersham has 40 folks who play pickleball relatively routinely and have another 47 players who are at various stages of being introduced to the game. Presently, we have two “temporary” courts marked out on a half-court basketball court. There is open play for 2+ and above on Tuesday and Friday mornings, a group of 3+ players who play on Monday and Wednesday mornings (they also go down to Palmetto Dunes to play), and three different “clinic” times–one on Saturday and two during the week–at which a few of the more advanced players volunteer to help the newbies learn the game. We recently had a “mingle” where the community was invited to come out to watch and learn about the game. We are in the midst of building support to construct permanent courts with fencing and lighting.
