Dataw Island celebrated our brand-new Pickleball complex with an open house in early February. Members enjoyed clinics and demonstrations covering a range of skill levels, an Intermediate Round Robin with spectators watching some of our more advanced players. We have a club like most of Dataw’s amenities, the Dataw Island Pickleball Club which as of April 2021 had more than 100 members. After almost two years of playing on the hard-tru tennis courts, our four new pickleball courts are in full use with discussions already begun for installing lights. There is a wide variety of men and women players and skill levels and formats of play. There are many weekly “Paddles Up” and drop-in play, beginner and upper-level clinics, our infamous Margarita Mash, and discussions to start inter club leagues and tournaments.
